The year 2003 was marked by the beginning of work on the
basic E16 project, and at the same time the start of the
yacht theme and the beginning of the development of projects for
self-assembly.
As part of the work on the basic E16 concept, Sea Tech carried
out a complex of research work, calculations, and model tests.
Options for a vessel with one and two engines, with a steel hull
and aluminum superstructure and all-steel, and different layout
options have been worked out. As a result of these studies,
three main projects reached the final stage, differing from each
other in purpose, design, number of engines, and general
location. This:
E16GL - single-engine version that
meets GL requirements, developed jointly with Choren Design &
Consulting (Poland).
E16MT - twin-engine version for
class "R3-RSN" RS. Construction plant Rybinsk shipyard.
E16MT-R - a modification of the
E16MT project - a river yacht with a steel hull and an aluminum
superstructure.
The peculiarity of the E16 project hull is that its contours (with
a relatively small length-to-width ratio) make it possible to
make the interior spaces quite spacious, have good stability,
and at the same time, this hull has good seaworthiness. This was
the reason to accept the E16 project as the base for a number of
low-speed steel yachts of similar dimensions - see
yachts of the
family. In particular, the yacht "Lotus-17" was implemented on
the basis of the project hull.
The hull part is distinguished by its simple design, making the
assembly process accessible to any shipbuilding workshop. The
E16 project is popular for self-building.
